Community

Dear Families and Community Members,

We know that many California families are currently facing uncertainty due to the potential delay in CalFresh (SNAP) food assistance benefits caused by the ongoing federal government shutdown. Over five million Californians rely on these benefits, and disruptions may begin as early as November. The State of California is actively responding by sending emergency funding to food banks and deploying support teams to assist with food distribution. However, all counties—including small and rural communities like ours—may feel the impact.

Our Commitment to You

At our school, we are committed to supporting the health and well-being of every student and family. We provide nutritious school meals using fresh fruits and vegetables, and at times we have surplus items available. If your family is experiencing food scarcity, or if you know someone who may need help, please reach out to our main office confidentially. We will gladly send home available surplus food items to support your family.

How You Can Receive Support

  • If your family is concerned about access to food, please call the school office.

  • We will do our best to provide surplus fresh produce or other nutritious items when available.

  • We are here to support you—no need is too small. Your child’s well-being is our priority.

How You Can Help Support Others

  • If your family has surplus nonperishable or fresh food items you would like to donate, we will have a donation box located in the front office.

  • All donated items will be provided directly to local families in need.

Community Resources

  • You may also find support through local food banks.

  • If our area does not have immediate food bank access, our district is actively exploring partnerships with local organizations to ensure no family goes without essential resources.

Together as a Community

We recognize that food insecurity can affect student health, school attendance, and learning. We are committed to standing beside our families during this time. If you are impacted—or know someone who may be—please do not hesitate to contact us. Our school community is strong because we care for one another, and together, we will ensure that every child has access to healthy, nourishing food.

Thank you for your partnership and ongoing support.

With Care,
