Hello,
my name is Shannon. I was born in San Francisco, but moved
to Mt. Shasta when I was two years old. I have lived in
Siskiyou County for 25 years. I graduated from Mt. Shasta
High School a year early to start my college education
at College of the Siskiyous I graduated in 1998, but stuck
around to work as the Assistant Coordinator of the HIV
Education Program for five years. After the birth of my
son, I stopped working there and became a full-time mom.
I used that year to try and figure out where I wanted
to go with my education. I decided to follow my dream
of going to medical school to become a physician, but
a twist of fate landed me working for Carol Wheeler at
the Castle Rock Community Preschool. I fell in love with
the job! I am now in my second year of teaching preschool.
I am continuing my education through National University
and will receive my Bachelor's of Arts in Early Childhood
Development in the fall of 2007. I will start on my Master's
Degree in Education shortly after. I am also very interested
in play therapy for young children and learning to identify
young children with severe social and emotional disorders.
I
have a three year old son, Noah. When I'm not busy (ha,
ha!), I love to read, cook, and I am an avid Nordic skier
in the winter.
