Educating Today's Students To Succeed in Tomorrow's World

GATE

Services for GATE students are provided through differentiated instruction within the classroom, as mandated by State Standards. In-service and materials for teachers are provided on "Differentiated Instruction for Gifted Students."

Identification of GATE students is based on performance in the following areas:

  • STAR reading and math scores
  • Recommendation by Teacher, Parent, Student
  • Visual and performing arts
  • Leadership

Students, parents and faculty have an opportunity to attend the annual GATE conference in the fall/spring at College of the Siskiyous.

The GATE program supports the Annual Egg Drop Contest, Odyssey of the Mind teams, and school-wide presentations. Odyssey of the Mind is a team-building, problem-solving competition activity that encourages students to "think outside the box". OOTM develops real-life communication and brainstorming skills, and rewards creativity and "calculated" risk-taking in the solution of complex problems.
